ARCHES, which stands for Addressing Reproductive Coercion in Health Settings, is a brief, scalable intervention to address women’s experiences of reproductive coercion (RC) and intimate partner violence (IPV) within routine family planning counseling. Learn more about ARCHES.
As many as 1 in 5 women globally report experiencing RC – behaviors by male partners or family members that attempt to control women’s reproductive decision-making and constrain female reproductive agency. RC is highly associated with IPV and poor health outcomes. Learn more about reproductive coercion.
Multiple trials have demonstrated positive effects of ARCHES on women’s reproductive agency, family planning use, and reductions on IPV. Learn more about ARCHES impact.
Nine ARCHES projects have been implemented in seven low- and middle-income countries across three continents and multiple service contexts! Learn more about the ARCHES projects.
Check out the ARCHES slide doc which outlines the approach, history, and evidence behind ARCHES. See more ARCHES resources.
